Report Maps San Francisco’s Most Dangerous Biking Intersections

An investigation by a local San Francisco news station analyzed thousands of CHP records obtained to map the most dangerous intersections for the city’s bikers. The investigation found that there have been over 11,000 bike accidents with injuries since 2007 in San Francisco with the most dangerous intersection at Market Street and Octavia. Accidents occur when drivers frequently try to make an illegal right turn at Market Street, across the bike lane and onto the freeway. While biking advocates have tried to get enhanced safety measures at the intersection, the report notes that bicycle accidents at the site continue to rise.
