Overview
If you believe what the insurance industry has been putting over the airwaves, you may come away thinking that a soft tissue injury is nothing serious. And when the doctor told you that you have a soft tissue injury, you expected to fully recover in a few weeks. But it is months later. You are still in pain and questioning what is going on.
A soft tissue injury involves damage to a muscle, ligament or tendon in the body. While some of these injuries are minor, others result in long-term damage that can require surgery or substantial modifications to a person’s job duties or lifestyle.
The insurance companies have waged a public relations battle to make the public (potential jurors) believe that soft tissue injuries are bogus. This is because a substantial number of the claims from car accidents involve soft tissue injuries. To the extent the insurance companies can get the public to believe that soft tissue injuries lack credibility, the insurance companies reduce how much they pay on claims and thus increase profits.
